Biomassacentrale Hamburg

Using the Ergo Go® Frame and EcoClear®, ADS removed refractory material from a biomass plant in Hamburg — safely, sustainably and without damage to the steel structure.

The challenge

Hydrodemolition in a biomass plant while keeping the steel structure 100% intact

Removing refractory material from a biomass plant is a complex and high-risk task, especially because the work has to be carried out in a confined space. Traditional methods can be not only dangerous but also inefficient and time-consuming. With traditional methods, severe damage often occurs to the steel structure behind it, such as chipping damage to tubes and refractory anchors or a reduction in wall thickness. This results in enormous financial damage and loss of time. By applying hydrodemolition, these problems are 100% eliminated.

The process

Innovative approach to a complex challenge

For this project in Hamburg, ADS deployed advanced technologies to carry out the challenging work safely, sustainably and effectively. With the combination of the Ergo Go® Frame and EcoClear® system, the refractory material could be removed without damaging the steel tubes and anchoring behind it. Safety, efficiency and sustainability were central throughout the entire execution of this project.

The solution

Ergo Go® Frame in combination with the EcoClear®

Our Ergo Go® Frame, combined with the EcoClear®, offers the perfect solution for this kind of challenging demolition work. The Ergo Go® Frame makes it possible to carry out demolition work with water, even in small confined spaces. Control takes place outside the confined space, ensuring the safety of the employees. The frame can be built up modularly and is applicable in various spaces, including ATEX zones.

For this project we used a water pressure of 2500 bar, controlled by three coupled units, with an output of 96 litres per minute. The EcoClear® collects the used water efficiently, filters and recycles it — 90% of all process water was reused.
